Champions of Coffee

a platform for timeless excellence in modern coffee

What is Champions of Coffee?

We exist to carry the thinking behind competition-level performance into real-world practice. While the industry often celebrates moments, we focus on what builds them—discipline, decision-making, and consistency.

Through conversations, sessions, and applied work inside cafes, we document how excellence is developed and sustained.

Our goal is simple: carry excellence forward.

From First Competition to 2026 American AeroPress Champion

The Goldchild competition team headed to Boston for the 2026 American AeroPress Championship, hosted by Atomic Coffee Roasters. One year after earning the title himself, 2025 American AeroPress Champion Jeff Rambo returned as a guest judge and passed the torch to the newly crowned 2026 Champion, Akira.

After barely a year behind the bar, Akira entered his first coffee competition—and won. He joins Jeff immediately after the championship to discuss preparing for the newly introduced Mystery Coffee, losing his ability to taste days before the event and trusting his preparation when doubt began to take over.

This is more than a conversation between two champions. It is one chapter closing, another beginning and the knowledge behind the title being carried forward

Meet your Host

Jeff Rambo, 2025 American AeroPress Champion and founder of Goldchild Coffee Roasters and Champions of Coffee.

Jeff Rambo is the 2025 American AeroPress Champion, co-founder of Goldchild Coffee Roasters and a coffee professional with more than a decade of experience in brewing, roasting and cafe ownership.

After representing the United States at the World AeroPress Championship in Seoul, Jeff saw how much knowledge exists behind every championship title—and how easily it can disappear once the competition ends. The audience sees the final routine and the trophy, but rarely the preparation, failed attempts, difficult decisions, teammates and sacrifices that made the moment possible.

He created Champions of Coffee to document that work and give champions from around the world a place to share what they learned.

As both a competitor and cafe operator, Jeff approaches each conversation with an understanding of the pressure behind the title and a desire to translate competition-level thinking into lessons that can strengthen everyday coffee practice.

Because winning creates a moment.

Sharing what it took can move the entire industry forward.
